In our previous article we informed you that PokerStars has left the Colombian gambling market after the Latin American country law makers have published a full list of igaming providers which are operating illegally in their country. Following that news is now another Latin America country, Brazil.
There are reports that the Brazilian law makers are in the process to ban players from making use of debit and credit cards or any other electronic payment method to deposit to any online casino which is not locally registered.
According to reliable sources, Senator Ciro Nogueira Lima Filho, is proposing a bill that would eventually institute regulations to the national central bank to immediately stop online players from using debit or credit cards together with any other online electronic payment process. This will stop any illegal transactions to international online casinos, sports betting and poker rooms.
The public consultation which is tagged as PLS 213/2017, clearly acknowledge that the country is currently struggling to effectively take hold of all the illegality taking place in it's online gambling market. It also hopes that at least one of the two current gambling regulations bill which are stuck at legislation level, will be processed as soon as possible.
However, until anything is done to that matter, everybody seems to accept the fact that Brazil has some major loop holes in their legislation when it comes to online gambling and need to address them at the earliest. In spite of this, the local government is loosing more then $900 million a year which are eventually spent at international online casinos and other gambling websites.
